The Bilderberg Group, or how I learned to stop worrying and love the New World Order

The term Bilderberg has become synonymous with conspiracy and New World Order, though it is largely unheard of beyond the circles of conspiracy theorists. The group is an assortment of bankers, politicians, media moguls, and royalty who meet once a year to discuss global events. The details truly are that vague, there is no complete list of conference attendees and rumors abound regarding the identity of the participants. Wikipedia identifies Donald Rumsfeld, and Peter Sutherland (former EU Commissioner and Chairman of Goldman Sachs and British Petroleum) as active Bilderberg Group members. Bill Clinton is rumored to have participated in the most recent conference – and apparently a Drexel University student’s question of his participation earned him a visit from the secret service.

Anytime the influential and powerful collude it seems to draw ire and suspicion from the general public. Conspiracy theories are often dismissed citing lack of evidence and this absence of evidence is often construed as evidence of absence . A belief in conspiracy is entirely reasonable given the common definition: two or more people colluding in secret. Our government indicts people on conspiracy related charges daily; the Mafia does exist in some form, and groups of politicians often make back-room deals to pass and/or block legislation and shape policy.

Does this implicate the Bilderberg Group as propagators of a New World Order? The pragmatic answer is of course not. Despite the secrecy surrounding Bilderberg membership it is rational to assume that their members have some degree of diversity of ideology, ethnicity, and nationality. The individuals’ identity and personal concentration of power make it unlikely that full collusion is even possible. This does not exclude the possibility that some members of the group may collude, but individuals are especially wary of relinquishing sovereignty, lowering the likelihood of a cohesive “New World Order”. The mainstream media does not report on the conference to facilitate openness of discussion; a more plausible scenario than other nefarious theories, meaning its more likely that they meet to discuss global trends and that the individual members discuss adaptation strategies with their national, political, and industrial counterparts – considerably less cohesive than a massive New World Order conspiracy.

I often wonder why conspiracy theories feed our fear and paranoia; it seems counter-intuitive. On a psychological level it seems that there are diametrically opposing views as to how an individual responds to a conspiracy theory, and their subsequent endorsement or rejection of the theory.

1.) The conspiracy psychologically satisfies your perception of the world. The world is complex, and global events often cause confusion, especially when accurate and objective information is unavailable. You either believe that rationality and order is the natural state, or we exist chaos. Indulgence in the conspiracy can be calming – the assurance that somebody, somewhere, has a plan (much like a belief in God). Proponents of conspiracy theories that fall within this paradigm generally believe the conspiring agents are acting (or believe they are acting) with benevolent intentions. Opponents of the conspiracy theories in this paradigm reject the theory wholesale – they do not dispute the conspiracy is occurring, but rather refuse to acknowledge specific events as evidence of the conspiracy or the intention of the conspirators. Either they believe the natural state of affairs is order and rationality – and thus forces exist to check conspiracies or they find insufficient evidence to acknowledge an active conspiracy. Similarly, if they believe that chaos is the natural state, the conspiracy becomes impotent, unable to exercise control.

2.) The conspiracy satisfies your personality. The belief in the conspiracy correlates to the individuals’ perception of free-will. Belief in the conspiracy may translate to the perception that the conspiracy impedes an individual’s free will, potentially serving as an external cause for events outside of the subject’s control, or an indemnification of the individual that justifies their passive acceptance of the situation. Rejection of the theory is then either an exercise in free will or the individual’s belief of the absence of free will.

The real question is: Where’s the beef? Humans are social beings, collusion and conspiring are inherent to our nature. The fear, anxiety and sensational nature of conspiracy theories seem to be product of psychological tension rather than conspiratorial policy.

Conclusion:

1.) Extreme Pessimism: Assume the agents of conspiracy act only in their own self-interest; then it is only a matter of time before other forces check their progress. This is not to say the conspiring agents actions won’t directly effect our lives, they most certainly will, but their self-serving policy will be diametrically opposed to other interests, and it would seem natural that both sides live and die by the organic ebb and flow of power and influence.

2.) Extreme Optimism: Assume the conspiring agents are acting with benevolent intention. Again, their actions will certainly affect our lives, perhaps even negatively. Once again, their policy will be diametrically opposed to other interests, and similar to the nefarious agents, their power will wane according to the fluid nature of power.

    Why all the secrecy then?

It’s not a matter of conspiracy or the non-existence of it. It is the crimes, which are planned and executed from the top of our governments and corporations. There is no consensus in Bilderberg “member’s” desires, but it is a place to spread inside information of governments, to the benefit of big business and definately, not for the benefit of the PEOPLE and majority of the citizens. It can feel overwhelming power that is against us, but we can fight it by informing others, friends and relatives. Don’s explain things in anger nor with great excitement, but in calm and worried fashion, and you will not lose your face. And please revise facts before informing others, because if you lose creditability, it is very hard to get back. “Love is not enough”

Evil deeds are done in the dark, good deeds are done in the light of day. They have security out the ass, nobody can even get near them, people have been interrogated and put in jail just for asking questions about them. If they have nothing to hide they don’t need all that security, and wouldn’t be doing those things to people for asking why are they meeting.

Watch Endgame that may open your eyes I hope. People dont listen to this guy he is probably has something to do with Bilderberg.

Read A Brave New World or 1984, and then read the newspaper to learn how completely clueless wealthy and powerful people are today. Do conspiracy theories happen? Yes, that is the conclusion of the essay… but their existence is secretive by nature. Instead you should question whether you believe actions of the Bilderberg group satisfy a solipsistic psychological condition or the need to believe in some kind of order within the world. Some people believe God provides that order, a very small group of people actually believe such power could be concentrated in the hands of men. It’s laughable that you’d even think a Bilderberg member would have some shoddy blog about conspiracy theories and tattoos, but I could wager good money that you go to sleep at night wishing you were one. The analogy of light and dark is as ridiculous as it is tautological. Nobility of action demands that one does not seek acknowledgment of one’s deeds, and you sir, are not noble.

The Bilderberg Group has it’s intentions written in stone!!! They want to downsize the world’s population to 500 million and no more. Look for what is called the Georgia Guidestones. Here is a basic understanding of what is written in the stones: “The Georgia Guidestones may be the most enigmatic monument in the US: huge slabs of granite, inscribed with directions for rebuilding civilization after the apocalypse. Only one man knows who created them—and he’s not talking.” We’re being told by some health officials NOT to get flu vaccinations, especially the H1N1 vaccination. These vaccinations have been tested and they have found in some batches, Mercury. Mercury is a deadly poison and when exposed over long periods of time will have a very negative effect on human health, growth, and development. We can’t sit here and say nothing is going on. If the belief that the world is coming to an end in 2012, don’t you think those richy-riches are going to do everything in their power to be the first survivors? These people are poisoning the food supply by using the artificial sweetner, aspartame and by poisoning our medicines to make us die faster. As for the Bilderberg’s Group members, they have no affiliation with any certain religion and no specific affiliation to any country (even the one they live in). To not have an association to any one belief makes it easier not to judge others ideas based solely on one’s own belief system and ethics. These people HAVE NO ETHICS. They are paying off our presidents and other high-up government officials to keep quiet. For all any of us know, they could be the ones picking our presidents! They have somewhere around 120 members ranging from royalty to OPEC officials to presidents to the top 50 CEOs. If you want to be micro-chipped and monitored wherever you go then that’s your choice, but I will not allow it to happen to me or my children. I would much rather be safe than sorry and I would hope that the innocent people around the world would take a stand. I mean, we have 7 BILLION people in this world and outnumber the members of the group. Sheer power in large masses. Though who is to say they have not built up an army of super soldiers that could kill us in the blink of an eye? All this may be talk and theory, but there are bad people in this world and the baddest of all are usually the most powerful and rich. How did they get so rich in the first place? I might go so far as to say that they’ve kept the following saying alive: “The rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer.” They’ve greedily protected and hoarded their wealth and then spend large wads on their “toys,” not caring at all about you or me. I plan to take care of myself. What are you going to do? I would love to see some sort of petition to our president asking about the Bilderberg Group and what they do. Obama has already met with them. If he is for “change,” where is this change? Is he really talking about a New World Order? Possible, but probably not, but WE NEED TO KNOW and we have the right to know what our government is doing being seen at one of their meetings. Take your blinders off. Start asking questions. Don’t be a sheep, a follower, just because someone says it’s good for you…people lie. Make sure you know full well what you’re getting yourself and your family into. Do not, DO NOT take it lying down.

  7. yeah says:

On a similar note,, would a course in philosophy be the right thing to take if you want to learn about virtue?

and if one wants to learn or understand more about the bilderberg group, would sociology or political science be the right track?

i’m not trying to get at anything specific, and neither of the courses have anything to do with my major (biology), but i’m just extremely interested in the two, and i would like to learn more
